Giovedì 20 marzo alle ore 19 presso la Galleria Giò Marconi l’artista tedesco John Bock eseguirà una performance in occasione dell’ inaugurazione della mostra “Zero-0,1”.Quattro gli elementi della performance che si svolgerà al primo piano della galleria: due modelle, una in piedi e una sdraiata, saranno avvolte in rotoli di gomma piuma. All’interno di un rotolo brandelli di stoffe e tessuti colorati; nell’altro oggetti di vario genere – legni, ritagli di giornale, materiali elettrici – che l’artista utilizzerà per costruire “small houses”.
Al centro della sala ci saranno due biciclette che trasportano un grande cubo in gomma piuma. Dall’alto del cubo sarà versato del latte mentre l’artista, trasportando il cubo, cercherà di rompere un uovo appeso alla parete.
Il quarto elemento della performance sarà una struttura in alluminio che conterrà oggetti realizzati con la paglia. La performance sarà filmata e il video diventerà parte integrante della mostra e proiettato per l’intera durata dell’esposizione.
Al secondo piano della galleria verrà presentato il video “Zero-Mini”.
John Bock si esprime attraverso la performance combinando oggetti e linguaggi di uso quotidiano che, snaturati dal loro abituale contesto, acquisiscono un nuovo significato. I “palcoscenici” di Bock, fatti di tavoli, assi ed elementi in legno o metallo a più livelli, diventano strutture di forte impatto visivo in cui oggetti handmade o accessori realizzati con stoffe, materiale plastico ed elettrico, diventano strumenti per illustrare il mondo dell’artista, fatto di elucubrazioni matematiche e riflessioni sul senso di ansietà che sembra essere proprio dell’uomo contemporaneo. In genere Bock sceglie come protagonisti delle sue azioni attori non-professionisti, che agiscono su background musicali pop o classici. La performance viene registrata su un video, che in seguito diventa parte integrante dell’installazione.
John Bock è nato a Gribbohm (Germania) nel 1965. Ha frequentato il BWL Studium e la Hochschule für Bildende Künste di Amburgo. Attualmente vive e lavora a Berlino. Inizia ad esporre nel 1992. March the 20th, on Tuesday at the Gió Marconi Gallery the german artist John Bock will make a performance at the opening of his solo show “Zero-0,1”.The performance will take place in the ground floor of the gallery and will consist in four elements: two models, one standing on foot and the orther lying on the floor, will be enveloped in foam balls. Inside of them coloured cloath’s cuttings/costumes and different objects – woods, newspaper’s clippings, electric materials – used by the artist to built “small houses”.
In the center of the room two bicycles will carry a big foam cube. On the cube’s top some milk will be poured while the artist will try to break an egg on the wall by carryng the cube.
The fourth element of the performance will be an alluminium structure filled with straw elements.
The performance will be record and the video will become part of the show for the following days.
At the second floor will be shown the video “Zero-Mini”.
John Bock use the performance language in a very personal way. He mixes everyday life objects and languages changed from their original context and so they aquire new meanings. Bock’s “stages”, made of tables, boards and wood or metal elements become structures able to reach a very deep visual impact on the viewer: handmade objects or fittings made of cloath, plastic or electric materials become instruments to show the artist’s world, made of peculiar mathematical explanations and deep reflections on the anxiety’s feeling which seems to be tipical of contemporary man.
For his performances Bock usually chooses non professional actors as main characters and made them play on a pop or classic music background. The performance is then recorded on a video which becomes part of the installation itself.
