Ricordo quanto è grande la tua casa
La porta si aprì, e un’ondata di calore e di rumore gli bruciò la guancia destra. Era un forno, amico, acceso a 400 gradi, e sembrava ci fossero altrettante persone. Cotti dal forno, ammassati l’uno contro l’altro, orecchie arrossate nella stanza. Le cucine hanno anime gialle, dense e morbide, appesantite di calore, odori e forme di ogni colore e dimensione, con fondi pesanti e tozzi da spingere in bocca.
Lui, lui e lui, figlio, papà e padre, fratello e amico, tutti qui. La scena non è muta.
I corpi parlano forte quanto le voci. Riuniti qui dal Chiamante col grembiule, il custode degli spazi.
Messaggio ricevuto, letto, risposta, messaggi inviati. Ricevi, invia, invia, ricevi, pausa. Ricevi,
invia, aspetta,
il donatore è in arrivo. Lanterne punteggiano i marciapiedi del nord dove i gigli dei ragazzi fanno fiorire i mondi che attraversano. Alcuni chiassosi, in colori effusivi, mentre altri colano, afferrando i colli, strisciando sul marciapiede, sui sedili dei passeggeri, avvolti in abiti familiari, ubriachi di travestimento. Tutti i ragazzi di giglio, di mattone o di pietra, cercano dolci ripari nelle braccia, nei letti e nelle gambe degli altri. Le loro teste, lampade raggianti di indifferenza. Bulbo avvolto nel nero che guarda soltanto la propria luce.
L’ho fatto tutto il giorno
Le piante sono sui davanzali da settimane, i capelli grigi si accumulano sui ripiani e si accalcano negli angoli. Polvere.
La cera della candela gocciola, sfuggita al bruciare, punteggia qua e là, trattenendo ogni granello che tocca.
Il tempo è migliorato e, da qui, le previsioni apparivano più favorevoli.
Pulire rimette in ordine chi indossa questa casa.
Lui ha fatto quello che lei ha fatto tutto il giorno. Lavare il pavimento. Tirare via i capelli. Canticchiare in coro con l’aspirapolvere e il suo risucchio. Che fare di tutta questa memoria e di questa età? Nessuna famiglia ha viaggiato più lontano del proprio tappeto. Steso su questa città fatta di divani giace un corpo modellato da una loro linea. La grazia dice grazie.
Niente figli, ma gli animali hanno ancora il pelo.

La Galleria Gió Marconi è lieta di annunciare Keep thinking nobody does it like you here comes the sunset, la prima mostra personale in Italia dell’artista americano Jonathan Lyndon Chase e la sua prima esposizione con la galleria.
La mostra esplora i momenti quotidiani della vita queer nera in città. Riflette sulla memoria e sulla mente, sul corpo e sull’anima, sul passare del tempo, sugli opposti e sull’equilibrio, sulla leggibilità e sull’astrazione.
Chase suddivide il piano terra della galleria in spazi interni privati, tra cui un soggiorno, una camera da letto, una cucina e un bagno. Sono questi i luoghi in cui la figura si muove e interagisce, rivelando stati emotivi, mentali e psicologici. Ogni ambiente diventa un paesaggio a sé. Gli interni agiscono come un archivio e un riflesso di questi elementi. Lo spazio stesso sembra vivo, come un corpo, con crepe, fili scoperti, tubi che gocciolano, soffitti che perdono e un tappeto che conserva molte storie.

I Remember How Big Your House is
The door opened to heat and noise searing his right cheek. It was an oven, friend, baked at 400 degrees and it felt like just as many people. Oven fried, huddled close, ears redden in the room.
Kitchens have yellow souls, steeped and supple, weighted in warmth,
scents, shapes of all color, length, and bottoms heavy and stout for stuffing into the mouth.
He, him and him, junior, daddy, and father, brother and friend, all here. The scene is not mute.
Bodies speak as loudly as voices. Gathered here by the apron wearing Caller, the keeper of spaces.
Message received, read, reply, messages sent. Receive, send, send, receive, break. Receive,
send, wait,
the giver is on his way. Lanterns dot the sidewalks of the north where the lilies of
boys flower the worlds they tread. Some boisterous in effusive color while others ooze,
grabbing at the necks, slithering on the curb, in passenger seats sheathed in familiar garb drunk on disguise. All boys of lily, brick or stone, seek sweet comforts in each other’s arms, beds and legs. Their heads a beaming sconce of indifference. Black shrouded bulb that only eyes its shine.
I did it all day
Plants been on the sills for weeks, grey hairs flock the plateaus and huddle in corners. Dust.
Candle wax drips, having escaped during burning, dots here and there, accumulating whatever particles they touch.
Improved weather and from here forecasts shone better.
Cleaning rights the wearer of this home.
He did what she did all day. Mop the would. Pull the hairs. Hum in chorus with the vacuum and its sucking. What to do with all this memory and age? No family traveled farther than their rug. Stretched over this city of a couch lays a body shaped by a line of theirs. Grace says thank you.
No kids but the animals are still haired

Gió Marconi Gallery is pleased to announce Keep thinking nobody does it like you here comes the sunset, the first solo exhibition in Italy by Philadelphia-based artist Jonathan Lyndon Chase and their first show with the gallery. The exhibition examines the everyday moments of queer Black life in the city. It reflects upon memory and the mind, body, and soul, the passage of time, opposites and balance, readability and abstraction.
Chase divides the ground floor of the gallery into private interior spaces which include a living room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. These are the settings where the figure navigates and interacts, revealing emotional, mental, and psychological states. Each space becomes a landscape of its own. The interiors act as an archive and a reflection of these elements. The space itself feels alive, like a body, with cracks, exposed wires, dripping pipes, leaking ceilings, and a carpet that holds many stories.
